General information

Quotor is client/server software to communicate information over your intranet or the internet.

On the Quotor server an entry line is configured. An entry line can consist of as many different fields as you like. You can configure only 1 free text entry field to have some kind of a chat server, you can configure a line with several fixed format fields to force a certain arrangement of fields (like you see in the screenshots menu).

A main advantage is that if a client logs on to the server it will retrieve all data from the server. So if a client logs in at 14:00 and the client is configured to retrieve all data of today, the client will see all data of today. That is a feature needed in the financial sector and most other companies that most chat servers don't have.

Information that is send to the server is assigned a unique id. This is a two letter combination, or if all two letter combinations are used a three letter combination, and so on. With this id a client can retrieve the same information from the server into the entry line and alter the information. If the information is send to the server, the old information is replaced.

Clients can be configured to only show data of certain funds (or for non financial use different groups). So if on the server ten funds (or groups) are defined and the client only wants to see the information of 2 of those funds (groups) this is possible. This way the client will only see information that relevant to this client.

It is also possible to send your information to external/third party systems. The information only has to be entered once and appears on all systems. This way managing your information will take a lot less time. We have a standard interface that can send your data in XML format to any given server using XML posts over the HTTP protocol. If you want to connect to a third party and can't use our default interface, we can build a custom interface for you on the specifications of the third party.

Because communication is done over TCP/IP, it is very easy to use the same Quotor server on all your locations. This way clients can communicate vital information quickly to all other clients connected to the server all over the world. To protect your data Quotor uses encrypted communication. Off course Quotor also works over VPN (Virtual Private Network) connections, which is a commonly used technique to connect the networks of several locations with each other.
